Annotation:
Following the experience at the psychiatric institute for children and adolescents and at the sex advice department, and after studying the problems in question, the author of the article gives a survey, above all, of the psychology of the age of puberty. In the first place he concentrates on the manifestations of sexuality in this period and aims at demonstrating the connection between the psychology and the physiology of puberty. He gives reasons for the necessity of sexual education, which is understood to be, not an isolated part, but an integral part of the whole dynamic process of educating a young person. He believes that, like any other educational process, sexual education should be directed primarily by educationists, who, however, lack adequate erudition for it at the present time. The author unequivocally condemns empiricism and dangerous improvisation in sexual education and suggests that teachers should be properly trained for it within the framework of their schooling. He believes that this should be done quite regularly and systematically. Training future teachers in this field would be the responsibility of doctors (sexologists and child psychiatrists, possibly other specialists) and psychologists working in the clinical field. According v to the author this solution would offer much better perspectives than present-day practice consisting in more or less haphazard lectures given by doctors directly to pupils. In conclusion the author outlined the approximate content of the so called sexual education without discussing the methods of how this should be done.
